Daniela Krukower was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. A short time later Daniela’s family moved to Israel where Daniela was introduced to Judo. Israel had two promising female judoka in one category, Einat Yaron and Daniela, only one could represent their country. The girls were rivals, but also friends, so Daniela decided to represent her birth country Argentina in Judo. Daniela excelled in international competition, on the world stage, and in the Olympics. She won Gold at the World Judo Championships in Osaka by defeating an Olympic gold medalist. Daniela became a celebrity in Argentina and proved to be such a Spirited Warrior that the Argentine media called her "Iron Lady". Daniela is an authentic Martial Art MASTER and CHAMPION. She is a beautiful human being who gives back to the international community as an educator in Personal Health, Safety, and Woman’s Self-Defense. DO IT.

GrandMaster Jim “Jake” Maloney, 10th Degree Black Belt, is the first Canadian to rank Black Belt in Uechi Ryu Karate in 1967. In 1970 Jake brought Uechi Ryu to Canada. Jake grew up quickly in Sipe’kneketik First Nation, Nova Scotia working with his father to raise money for his older brothers university education. Jake received the gift of ‘Shaolin Temple Discipline’ from his father and at 16 he moved to Boston where he did odd jobs including burning waste, until he got into construction. Jake joined Mattson Academy of Karate and studied with decorated competitors to become “one of the top kumite competitors”. Jake was the undefeated New England champion in free fighting and cement breaking from 1967-1973. He is a Canadian representative to Okinawa / Japan, Uechi Ryu Karate, and has trained more than 16,000 international students, including tournament champions. Competitive Career
For nearly 14 years, Marie-Hélène, as a member of the National Team, established herself as one of Canada’s most competitive judoka. Placing fifth at the Athens Olympics was the best result by a Canadian woman in Olympic judo at that time. She followed that achievement with another fifth-place finish at the 2005 World Championships in Egypt, further reinforcing her standing on the international stage.
Coaching and Leadership
After retiring from competition, Marie-Hélène turned her focus to coaching and is a certified NCCP Level 5 judo instructor. She served as a provincial coach with Judo Québec from 2008 to 2009. In 2009, Marie-Hélène joined Judo Canada as Assistant Coach of the women’s national team, a role she held until 2013. She later continued her work with the organization as High-Performance Manager.
Advocacy and Impact
Beyond coaching and high-performance leadership, Marie-Hélène has helped advance equity in the sport as the founder and chair of the Judo Canada Gender Equity Committee. In 2026, despite her many existing commitments, she graciously accepted an invitation to serve as an Ambassador to the Ken Ryu Jujutsu Society. Marie-Hélène is an advocate for women in sport while embodying female essence, motherhood, and excellence in all her endeavors.
Family and Personal Life
Marie-Hélène has two beautiful children, who are also judoka, with her spouse, Nicolas Gill — four pillars in a judo family.

Sensei Colton Brown
Colton Brown holds a 5th Degree Black Belt in Judo and is a highly decorated competitor. Colton competed in the Olympics, Pan American Games, World Grand Prix, and many other tournaments. He holds numerous Championship titles and after a lengthy competitive career Colton is still active in the Judo World as a Coach, Mentor, and Builder. In addition to coaching the United States Judo Team, he operates Colton Brown Training Center in Warren, N.J. Colton is deeply connected to his family and began his Judo career at the age of 17 when he accompanied his dad (Jeff), also a Judo Black Belt, to the dojo. Much of Colton’s success can be attributed to a loving and supportive family, Mom (Joan) and Sister (Abrille). Colton uses his energy, enthusiasm, and talent to serve the greater community and the Judo World. Colton faces adversity head on, gets up when knocked down, keeps moving forward, and learns from every experience. We are fortunate and appreciative to have such a fine Ambassador model the benefits of sport and the values that we share. Much Gratitude Colton.
